How to get rid of bed bugs ?

Frequent itching wakes you up every night, your skin is full of little pimples, and you find that there are small spots on your sheets. Bad luck, they are probably bedbugs. This simple mention is cold in the back, but don't panic, we can get rid of it.

Mechanical struggle

No matter what type of pest you are dealing with, the first instinct is often to pounce on a chemical and bomb the house with it. However, it is possible to get rid of it without, hence what is called mechanical struggle. Several things can be done in this case, and the first is the most urgent: decontaminate the bed.

A steam cleaner would be ideal for cleaning the mattress and box spring especially (and the whole house afterwards). These little animals are indeed very sensitive to temperature variations, and when it is too hot or too cold, they die. If you have a refrigerated room or a huge freezer, spending 48 hours in it can also get rid of it. But for what the state of your affairs will be next, that still remains to be seen. Be careful not to move the furniture (or to wrap it well after treatment), or the bedbugs could spread everywhere.

However, if you don't have a steam cleaner or a place to freeze your things, a vacuum may be sufficient if the infestation is still very limited. However, this must be coupled with the cleaning of bed linen, but also of clothes since the bugs necessarily come from somewhere. The laundry should be done at a high temperature to kill these unwanted people and their eggs, followed by a good steam ironing and voila.

Chemical treatment

If mechanical treatment weren't enough to get rid of bedbugs due to an infestation that was too advanced, it's time to switch to a more radical treatment: pesticides.

You should already know that pesticides - in addition to their brands - can differ from each other in their potency. The choice of product used therefore depends on the progress of the infestation. It may also depend on where you spray the product (the laying area, the bed, the surroundings ...), it's up to you. If necessary, you can get advice from a druggist to choose the right product.

Call on professionals

If your home is infested and your attempts to get rid of the bedbugs yourself have not worked, now is the time to call a disinfection company for chemical control. In the vast majority of cases, they will need to perform 2 surgeries within 2 weeks of each other. The first operation will be to get rid of the bedbugs, the second to make sure that the eggs are all destroyed.
